As the Hemel Stags team numbers increase so does the talent in the Squad. Chad Sharp has recently signed with the Stags and will arrive in early February to make his debut with the club. Chad comes from Country New South Wales in Australia and brings with him an extremely talented, high level of rugby league background. Playing standoff or loose forward, Chad offers versatility as well as experience to the team. Along with the on field skill set that the new Stag brings we hope he can also offer some off field advice to players, peers and the community through his knowledge of the game and playing at the semi-professional level.
Coach Troy Perkins says, "I am really pleased to have Chad on board. We were looking for an experienced ballplayer and Chad fits the bill. He is pretty big lad with plenty of skill. He can play standoff or slot into the back row if need be, initially I will be looking at him playing in the halves. He has been playing at Wyong, they play in the Newcastle competition. This is one of the best competitions in Australia outside the NRL. Hopefully he will be an asset not only on the field but off the field, as a role model for some of our younger players. We are looking forward to having Chad play in the Gateshead friendly in early February”.
It’s a very exciting time for Hemel Stags. Being in the Championship one level offers new and exciting things, not only to the team but everyone involved in the club and community. The team is coming together nicely, having fantastic new recruits such as Chad, will only help the already quickly developing Stags be more ready for the first round of fixtures.
