Stags climb to 10th

Hemel Stags made it two wins in a row as they climbed into 10th place in Kingstone Press League 1 thanks to a 16-12 win over fellow strugglers Coventry Bears.

Ryan Chester went over for the game's opening try after 34 minutes and Charlie Lawrence added the goal to give the Stags a 6-0 advantage.

The lead, however, only lasted three minutes before Chris Barratt crossed for the visitors and Dan Parker levelled the scores with his first goal of the afternoon.

Matt Ross then ensured Hemel went into the break in the lead with a try on the stroke of half-time and Lawrence's goal made it 12-6 as the teams turned around.

Parker converted his own try for Coventry but two more goals from Lawrence ensured it was Hemel who took the points.
