The Stags have announced the vastly experianced Dean Thomas as the new Assistant Coach to Troy Perkins.
Dean was a former player with York and Barrow Raiders before being employed as Fitness Conditioner at Sheffield Eagles and then Salford City Reds. He went on to become Head Coach ar Gateshead Thunder and also had two spells as Head Coach of the Jamaican national team including the qualifying matches for the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.
Troy Perkins said of Dean, "Dean has a good background in the game and has been involved in some good set-ups. He is passionate about the game and has already set to work in recruiting players for next year. It's good to have Dean on board so soon in the close season."
When we spoke to Dean, he told us. "I really enjoy supporting the development of clubs and Hemel Stags is an ideal fit for me and hopefully in the long term for Hemel Stags. What is clear to me is that the enthusiasm of Troy allows me to feed off him and support Troy where I can. I feel recruitment is going really well and a competitive team that can deliver results is key to our progress."
