The Stags had a busy weekend with the majority of the club's teams in action displaying the considerable depth in playing numbers that Hemel currently have.

Top of the list was a tough trip to Southern Conference League unbeaten leaders West Warriors. The final scoreline of 52-32 suggested that both sides could do with tidying up their defences but in the end a three try winning margin for the all-Kiwi Warriors was probably a fair result. For the Stags this was a positive step in developing a team that is still work in progress.

At Pennine Way it was left to the 'A' team to take on old rivals St Albans Centurions in an East Region local derby and it was the home team - with a host of youngsters on display - who claimed local bragging rights with a 32-20 win. 17-year old forward Ben Smith was Man of the Match. The two sides will meet again in a fortnight in the semi-finals of the East of England Cup.

Hemel Juniors again did well. The Under 16's Gold - now back to a full squad of players - put their recent poor form behind them and easily accounted for Brentwood 32-16 at Pennine Way. The Under 14's travelled down to Elmbridge Eagles and, yet once again, just missed out on victory by a single try losing 20-16.  At U13's level, the undefeated Stags travelled up to Hitchin to take on North Herts Crusaders. The home side had been easily beaten by the Stags in the 1st round match between the two clubs  but a much improved effort saw them make the Stags work hard for a 36-12 victory.

Finally, but not least, the Minis took U9 & U11 teams to Elmbridge for a major festival and the rookie Stags showed continued improvement in their play while thoroughly enjoying themsleves.

All in all, an encouraging weekend for the Stags with more than 120 players in action.
